2nd annual Nourish to Flourish Gala raises $114,000!
What a night! Store to Door’s 2nd annual Nourish to Flourish Gala raised $114,000 on Thursday, September 14, 2017. The Elysian Ballroom was bursting with 175 friends who played our very own version of the Price is Right game, bid lively on some amazing auction packages, and stepped up with generous donations.
The sponsors of Nourish to Flourish not only made this event possible, but they also help to carry out our service through our corporate volunteer program, and grocery and service partnerships.
We are thankful for such a dedicated (and fun!) community of supporters that allows us to further our mission to bring nourishment, connection and dignity to Portland’s homebound seniors and adults living with disabilities. We also deeply appreciate our clients, who are unable to attend events like this. Not only do they let us into their homes every week, they let us into their hearts and bring so much meaning to the work we do.
If you missed it, check out the video featuring one of our clients, Cathy, to learn more about what we do and click here to see the beautiful photographs from the night, compliments of Capturing Kismet.

We’re Expanding to Beaverton!
On Wednesday, July 26th, 2017 at 8:00 a.m., Store to Door will celebrate the expansion of their program and weekly service to the Beaverton Town Square Fred Meyer with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Miss Washington County, Shivali Kadam, along with the organization’s partners at Fred Meyer, Store to Door Board members and volunteers.Since 1989, Store to Door has supported independent living for Portland area seniors and people with disabilities by providing an affordable, personal, volunteer-based grocery shopping and delivery service. When the program began, five volunteers shopped for twenty-five local seniors. Now, 28 years later, approximately 160,000 deliveries have been made. With the support of more than 950 volunteers, Store to Door is expected to serve at least 635 clients with over 9700 deliveries in 2017.
A partner with Fred Meyer since 1990, Store to Door currently operates out of their Hollywood Store and shops for approximately 240 clients per week.
“We are getting too big for one store,” said Program Manager Cindi Fuller. “We want to get food out of the grocery carts, through the checkout lines and into the homes of our clients as quickly as possible. A second store will allow us to recruit more volunteers and streamline our deliveries for efficiency.”
Store to Door will begin by filling 50-60 orders per week at the Beaverton Fred Meyer, enlisting the help of 50 volunteers. The organization’s goal is to reach 1,000 clients by 2020, and this expansion is an important step in making that vision possible.
“If it weren’t for Store to Door, I don’t know what we would do. If you only knew the anxiety we went through before we found you,” said a Store to Door client.
You can support Store to Door’s expansion by volunteering as an order-taker, shopper and/or delivery driver. Learn more at volunteer@StoreToDoorofOregon.org.
2017 Donor Appreciation Event
It was such a treat see so many of our supporters on Wednesday, June 14th at Store to Door’s Annual Donor Appreciation Happy Hour! Over 90 people filled the lobby of the Artist Respiratory Theater with a shared commitment to bringing nourishment, connection and dignity to Portland’s homebound seniors and adults living with disabilities.
We heard Tom Wagener’s tale of Store to Door’s evolution from a small, volunteer driven organization to the strong, robust program it is today! That transformation was only possible given the generosity of our supporters and leadership of our Board of Directors. It was also amazing to see so many members of our Nourishing Circle in attendance. Together, we will expand our reach to serve 1,000 clients by 2020!
As always, thanks to Fred Meyer for providing refreshments for the evening.
