What information we collect and how we use this information
Our donation forms require users to give us contact information that may include name, address, email address, credit card information, and telephone number.
Tax laws require Store to Door to keep the contact information and contribution level of donors on file. However, we do not store sensitive information from our donors, such as credit card numbers.
Store to Door will never sell, trade, rent, or share names, e-mail / mail addresses, or telephone numbers of our donors without the explicit permission of the donor. We will use contact information (e-mail, telephone number and address) of donors for these purposes only:
- Distribution of receipts for donations and acknowledging donor gifts.
- Communicating with donors about upcoming fundraising and other activities of Store to Door.
- Internal analysis and record keeping.
- Reporting to relevant federal and state agencies (these reports are not for public inspection).
- Contacting donors about changes to our policy.
We allow donors the option to have their name publicly associated with their donation unless the donor explicitly chooses the “anonymous” field when donating. In all other cases the default is for staff and volunteers to assume the names of donors may be publicly announced in Store to Door’s Annual Report publication, unless the donor explicitly indicates otherwise.
All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to the professional staff that needs to process this data. No such data is given to any person, organization or group who does not have a professional need to access this data. Safeguards are in place to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary.
Users who no longer wish to receive our electronic newsletters may opt-out of receiving these communications by following the appropriate link in an electronic newsletter and following directions to unsubscribe.
Store to Door’s Commitment to Security
Store to Door’s online processing system allows you to make secure donations and sign up for electronic communications. We use the latest encryption technology to ensure that no unauthorized persons and/or systems can read your information as it is transmitted. Our online credit card verification system is handled by a third party, which collects your name, address, phone number, credit card number, and expiration date in order to process your transaction. Their encryption technology offers a secure environment to ensure the confidentiality of your transactions. Access to personal information is strictly limited to those employees and volunteers tasked with processing donations or adding your information to mailing lists. All personal information is kept on password-protected computers and in cases where information is kept in paper form it is secured in locked files or offices.
