Earlier this year, one of our Kindness Couriers, Jeri, dropped off a client’s weekly groceries. He was grateful for the food, but what he really wanted to know was whether she’d remembered the birthday card he’d asked about, for his grandson. She had.
That small moment is most of what Store to Door actually is. The groceries matter. So do the things that come with them: a face at the door, a jar someone opens, a card that arrives in time. Assistance finding a service to help with yardwork. An extra box of food to bridge the game when needed.
This week is National Volunteer Week, and we want to say thank you, out loud, to all of the wonderful members of our volunteer community who make this work possible.
Store to Door Client Belinda wrote in recently to share her gratitude, and made sure we also knew that her cat, Noodles, is “purrfectly grateful” for his regular delivery of Fancy Feast. “What you do has helped me to live a safe, secure life,” she added. “I am beyond grateful.”
That’s the whole picture our volunteers deliver: the personality and the gratitude, the cat food and the independence, the small things and the life-changing ones. THANK YOU.
Together, we are working towards a community in which all people are nourished, connected, and able to age safely in the setting of their own choosing.
