Store to Door is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as the Development Manager!
Position Summary: As an active member of the leadership team, the Development Manager works closely with the Executive Director, Volunteer & Outreach Manager, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement the annual fundraising plan and to expand philanthropic support for the organization.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for annual fundraising goals (Contributed & Fundraising goal is $455,639 currently)
- Collaborate with grant writer to identify, write and secure foundation grants
- Maintain and grow individual donor base (monthly giving society, major gifts, etc.)
- Collaborate with Outreach Manager to expand business and corporate donors
- Assist in designing, planning, and implementing donor appreciation and stewardship events
- Manage annual fundraising activities including direct mail, e-appeals, and online giving for donors, volunteers, and staff
- Develop and maintain relationships with the philanthropic community
- Create budgets for Fundraising/Development and special projects or initiatives
- Responsible for training, development, mentorship, supervision and evaluation of Development staff and volunteers
- Manage acknowledgement process of gifts (individual, corporate, foundation and in-kind)
- Assist with implementation of fundraising communications, including: invitations, solicitations, commitment forms, invoices, collateral, emails, phone calls and hand written notes
- Responsible for management of donor information management system including data entry, gift processing, tracking and reporting
- Write and prepare correspondence, file documents, handle incoming and outgoing mail and telephone service, manage and prioritize flow of information/paperwork
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field is preferred or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in non-profit resource development
- Minimum 2 years of successful grant writing experience
- Minimum 2 years of coordination and project management skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in administrative support at the senior administrative level
- Must pass criminal background check
Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of and passion for senior services
- Demonstrated proven success in developing and managing fundraising programs
- Demonstrated knowledge of effective fundraising strategies, moves management and industry trends
- Working knowledge of how to coordinate and implement all donor relations and stewardship activities
- Understanding of essential confidentiality and protocols
- Excellent verbal, written, public speaking and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
- Responsive with great follow-through skills and ability to build trust and maintain constructive relationships across organizational boundaries
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook), with strong proficiency in database management and ability to learn related software (Gift Works)
- Ability to work under pressure with flexibility
- Ability to work in a team environment and effectively communicate with diverse populations including minority, low income and persons with disabilities
- Ability to vary work hours to accommodate “after hours” needs (attend meetings, make presentations, etc.)
- Experience and knowledge of the local philanthropic community preferred
- Vehicle required to perform job duties
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
- Fast paced, with significant people interaction
- No lifting over 25 lbs
- Minimal reaching, bending and stooping, sitting for extended periods of time
- Dexterity of hands and fingers required for operation of phone, keyboard and mouse
- Travel throughout Portland Metro area required
Compensation:
$19-$23/hr
FTE: 0.80 (9-5 M, W, TH, F)
