Position Summary: As an active member of the leadership team, the Development Manager works closely with the Executive Director, Volunteer & Outreach Manager, and the Board of Directors to develop and implement the annual fundraising plan and to expand philanthropic support for the organization.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for annual fundraising goals (Contributed & Fundraising goal is $455,639 currently)
• Collaborate with grant writer to identify, write and secure foundation grants
• Maintain and grow individual donor base (monthly giving society, major gifts, etc.)
• Collaborate with Outreach Manager to expand business and corporate donors
• Assist in designing, planning, and implementing donor appreciation and stewardship events
• Manage annual fundraising activities including direct mail, e-appeals, and online giving for donors, volunteers, and staff

• Write and prepare correspondence, file documents, handle incoming and outgoing mail and telephone service, manage and prioritize flow of information/paperwork

Qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or related field is preferred or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in non-profit resource development
• Minimum 2 years of successful grant writing experience
• Minimum 2 years of coordination and project management skills
• Minimum 1 year of experience in administrative support at the senior administrative level
• Must pass criminal background check

Any satisfactory combination of experience, training and/or education which ensures the ability to perform the work may substitute for the above qualifications.

Duration of Internship: 6-9 months
Time Commitment: 4-8 hours/week
Hours Required:

• Flexible, Monday-Friday 9 am – 4 pm
• May include participation at actual events. Hours may be completed at the Store to Door office, at events or remotely from home.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION

The Development Intern will support Store to Door’s efforts to reach its funding goals. The intern will provide assistance with the office and administrative functions of fundraising. In addition to making phone calls and assisting with mail-outs, Development Intern will update and maintain the GiftWorks donor management database, which serves as a valuable resource for Store to Door. Reports to the Executive Director. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Enter data and maintain information in GiftWorks donor management database
• Assist Development Director with duties associated with the Nourish to Flourish annual auction
• Perform office work functions such as filing, printing, and compiling information and research for staff
• Represent Store to Door at tabling events as needed
• Provide excellent customer service
• Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated excellence in prioritizing, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Data entry experience and attention to detail
• Ability to think strategically
• Exhibits good judgment
• Fluent in English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Able to work as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision

Please join us in welcoming our new Development Director, Marianne Back! Marianne comes to us with 8 years of fundraising, events and public relations skills. At her most recent role as Development Director for the United Way of the Mid-Willamette Valley, she raised $1.4 million in revenue through corporate, government, foundation, and individual support and an additional $200,000 through other fundraising products, vehicles, and events! She earned a BA in Communications: Public Relations from the University of West Florida and is a certified grant writer as well.

Yes, she has the fundraising “chops” that we seek, and even more importantly, she has a strong connection to Store to Door’s mission. Marianne said, “Store to Door serves a demographic that is close to my heart. Working to ensure that the elderly and disabled live a quality life is precious to me on a personal level.” Marianne worked closely alongside the Council on Aging and Covenant Hospice in Florida to provide critical services that keep the elderly and disabled as independent as possible.

Organization Overview:
Store to Door supports independent living for Portland area seniors and people with disabilities by providing a low-cost, volunteer-based grocery shopping and delivery service. Our award-winning organization is the only one of its kind in Oregon. This year, over 600 volunteers will help us make 8,800 deliveries to 500+ elders. We’ve been delivering nourishment and social connections to homebound people in our community for over 25 years.

Position Summary:
The Volunteer & Outreach Manager is responsible for ongoing volunteer recruitment, training, coordination, support, and recognition. These responsibilities include corporate partnership development and building general community awareness for Store to Door’s program. Goals include increasing the number of volunteers and volunteer hours; securing on-going corporate volunteer commitments; and supporting the process of engaging corporate donors. We desire candidates who have a passion for serving older adults and are professional, friendly, and organized.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
• Recruit volunteers by identifying and contacting corporate and business partner prospects, publishing recruitments in print and online, scheduling and attending outreach fairs and events, giving presentations, serving as a representative of Store to Door at various events and networking opportunities, and collaborating with Hands on Greater Portland.
• Support the organization’s goal of increased visibility and volunteer engagement through public relations and marketing activities.
• Coordinate and lead Store to Door’s Corporate Outreach Committee, which consists of board members and community volunteers, and primarily focuses on corporate and business engagement. Collaborate with Development Director and Executive Director to develop prospects for corporate and business sponsorships.
• Screen volunteer applications conduct background checks and interviews. Refine Store to Door’s application process as needed. Place volunteers in appropriate positions based on volunteer preferences/skills, program protocols, logistics, and geographic location.
• Train and provide orientation for volunteer groups and individuals. Provide information on program history and procedures; volunteer roles and expectations; aging and social services currently available to elders in our community; and strategies for facilitating client self-advocacy and gatekeeper advocacy. Conduct job specific training (order taking or administrative).
• Provide ongoing volunteer management, support, and recognition.
o Manage volunteer database and provide monthly reports.
o Maintain positive relationships with volunteers and corporate contacts via email, telephone, and in person.
o Organize volunteer/partner appreciation and networking events.
o Collaborate with Program Manager and other staff to ensure all program and volunteer needs are met effectively in a timely manner.
• Evaluate the impact of Store to Door’s volunteer program and measure volunteer satisfaction by utilizing annual surveys.
• Provide support to all departments, which demonstrates respect, teamwork and collaboration with staff, volunteers and community partners

Education & Knowledge
